Cotton Inc. Sponsored Active-wear Competition - Post Event Thoughts

Cotton Inc. is a very generous patron of various FIDM events. For the past few months, I have been working on an activewear competition sponsored by Cotton Inc. with 2 of my friends from school. The competition requires a team of 3 people to develop a collection of activewear for a sport of our choice, and the winners will receive scholarship money. My team chose tennis as our sport. We went through almost every step that is required to produce a new line in the industry, which includes consumer and market research, fabric research and development, design and color selections, sample production and final presentation. Unfortunately, we did not win the competition, but the experience that I gained from this whole thing was remarkable (and I am not just saying that because we didn't win). I also learned something about myself: I CAN work in a team, I just need teammates who share my dedication, passion and views.

After the competition was over, I did some analyzing to see what we could've done differently, and the 3 things I came up with was: 1) choose a less popular sport so there are rooms for innovation; 2) conduct a more thorough and personal consumer and market research; 3) analyze research results more closely so the data can have physical manifestations in the collection.

Better Luck Next Time! Here are some images from the whole experience:
